Written with mechanical and civil engineers in mind (but useful for other disciplines, too), Section Properties calculates the area, moment of inertia, radius of gyration, and distance from an axis to a fiber farthest away from the axis for 27 common geometric shapes. This easy-to-use program handles tees, channels, beams, and solid and hollow cross-sections of circles, ellipses, rectangles, and more. User's notes cover basics but don't offer much in the way of background explanation of calculated properties for non-knowledgeable users
